Captain Howden

On the second day of the Ostia shoot Sydney was hit by a freak dust storm that blew in from the desert. The entire sky turned an eerie red colour and fine dust was landing on everything. This followed a mighty electrical storm that happened on the first day of the shoot. It was a short shoot with a lot to get through but Director of Photography Adam Howden took it all in his stride and rose to the challenges. Fortunately the film was in black and white so red skies didn’t cause a problem.
